Artist Statement: Shelley Olds, along with the talented students of the Jenks High School Painting and Art Club, proudly presents Tranquility for the 2026 Play Me Tulsa project. This collaborative piano celebrates the calming power of art and music to bring people together and create moments of peace in everyday life. Inspired by themes of serenity, connection, and creative expression, Tranquility was designed and painted by Jenks HS students working collectively to transform the piano into a vibrant public artwork. Through color, movement, and layered imagery, the piece reflects the students’ artistic voices while encouraging the community to pause, reflect, and enjoy the shared experience of music. This project represents not only artistic collaboration, but also the importance of mentorship, creativity, and community engagement through the arts.
