The number one priority with painting our piano was for all art students to have the opportunity to contribute to the project. While this is always important, it was especially significant this year. We spent almost an entire year physically separated from one another while in distance learning. And while we are now in-person, opportunities to collaborate with each other are still far too scarce. Therefore, we decided that the most important thing about our Play Me Tulsa piano was the fact that it was something we could do together. Instead of selecting just a few of our most skilled artists to work on our piano, we chose a design that would allow anyone of any artistic level to participate. We are very proud of the all-embracing nature of our design. Painting this piano brought us together and will hopefully encourage others to come together through art, music and good will towards one another.
