Artist Statement: Inspired by Claude Monet’s iconic Water Lilies series, Mrs. Bitzer’s Art I students transformed this piano into a celebration of color, movement, and community art. Soft reflections, layered brushstrokes, and vibrant tones were used to capture the peaceful beauty and impressionistic style that made Monet one of history’s most influential artists. This project marks Mrs. Bitzer’s third consecutive year participating in . The previous two pianos were created for , each inspired by a different master artist — from Matisse to Monet. This year’s piano was designed in honor of the , bringing together public art, music, and creative collaboration. Led by AP Art student Ava Starr as Project Manager, a select team of Art I students worked together throughout the painting process. Special detail work and highlights were completed with the help of Eliza Xiong, whose contributions added depth and refinement to the final design. More than just a painted instrument, this piano represents creativity, teamwork, mentorship, and the belief that art should be experienced by everyone in the community.
